The Perfect Hamilton Themed Day in NYC

Morning:

Here’s exactly how you’re going to start out The Perfect Hamilton Themed Day in NYC. You’re going to take the subway to the Staten Island Ferry to start the themed walking tour. It takes you through iconic spots tied to Hamilton’s life and story like Federal Hall and Trinity Church The tour guides are super engaging and share little-known details about Hamilton’s real life and how the show was created, they show photos on their iPads and even play the songs from the musical as you take it all in. They give you earbuds so you can hear everything perfectly even through the busy streets. Of course the tour ends with a visit to Hamilton and Eliza’s grave.

I cannot recommend this tour enough, I’m not a huge history buff but was absolutely fascinated every moment of this tour and learned so much! It lasts 3 hours so make sure to have a good breakfast before!

Cost: $75 (I promise it’s worth it! Children get 20% off)

Late Afternoon:

After the tour, grab some pizza from anywhere, and head back to your hotel. You’ll need to rest up from the morning activities and get dolled up in a nic outfit.  Then make your way up toward Times Square and visit the Broadway Museum. This place is perfect for theater lovers, especially fans of Hamilton. You can view costumes from the original show, minature recreations of the sets, props used in the show in the past, plus TONS of other costumes and props from DOZENS of Broadway shows throughout history. There’s even some fun setups to take photos in!

Cost: $45 (buy 3 get one free)

Then grab some dinner, I recommend Juniors Cheesecake it was delicious, only a 5 minute walk away from the museum, and best of all, affordable. The restaurant is famous for their cheesecakes but it also offers a full menu with the normal sit down dining experience. We got vegetable pasta (you have to ask for it, it’s not on the menu) a hamburger, and of course a cheesecake and loved every bite!

Cost: About $60 for two

Evening:

It wouldn’t be The perfect Hamilton themed day in NYC without seeing Hamilton on Broadway! No matter how well you know the soundtrack, seeing it live with the full cast and orchestra is a totally different experience, I’ve seen the show on tour twice before and the show on Broadway is another level. Absolutely worth the splurge!

Cost: Huge price range. We spent about $200 each on our tickets which seems to be the average, and loved our seats (ORCh, Row O, Seats 10 & 12) You can search for people reselling their tickets on Seat Geek or Vivid Seats to look our for deals, or buy directly from the theater at Broadway Direct.

Late Evening:

Don’t rush out when the show ends. If you wait by the stage door, you might get to meet some of the cast. We met a few of them, got signatures, and it felt like the perfect ending to the day.

If Hamilton has a permanent place in your heart, this is a day you’ll never forget — save this for your next trip to have the perfect Hamilton themed day in nyc!
